TOP CHEF CONTESTANT DAVE MARTIN TO HOST DINNER AT BAYSIDE RESTAURANT IN NEWPORT BEACH

NEWPORT BEACH, Calif., January 18, 2010 – Memorable Top Chef Season 1 contestant Dave Martin will be at Bayside Restaurant in Newport Beach to host a special “Top Chef” dinner and provide guests with signed copies of his new cook book.

Chef Dave Martin has planned a special dinner menu just for Bayside restaurant on Friday, January 29, 2010. Along with this spectacular dinner, guests will receive a complimentary autographed copy of Dave’s new book, Flavor Quest and get to meet the famous chef himself. The special pre-fixe menu will be available for $59 per person plus tax and gratuity when dinner service begins at 5:00 p.m. The menu is set to include three wonderful courses and a dessert. Guests are encouraged to contact Bayside for reservations at (949) 721-1222.

Martin is famous for his modern twists on traditional foods, like his famous black truffle mac ‘n cheese. The Top Chef’s menu for Bayside is sure to inspire as it includes savory dishes such as oven roasted mushroom soup, tempura crab fritters, Asian Tenderloin seasoned bites of hanger steak and wild striped bass with brussel sprouts. To “top” it all off for dessert, guests will enjoy a Meyer lemon crisp and berry coulis.

A Southern California native, Martin was one of the final three contestants on the popular Top Chef show’s first season in 2005. Martin quickly became one of the viewer’s favorite chefs on the show due to his vibrant and infectious personality along with his now infamous catch phrase. Martin was eliminated from the show in Las Vegas on Part I of the season finale despite the fact that he had been a favorite of some of the guest judges that challenge.

Since the show he has made numerous guest judge appearances on the more recent seasons of Top Chef. He has also continued to work in the food industry, serving as executive chef at the New York restaurant Crave on 42 as well as training culinary teams at the University of Illinois for its new on-campus dinging program.

Since it opened in 1999, Bayside Restaurant has provided the latest innovation in contemporary American cuisine. Along with changing its menu to reflect the season, the restaurant also features a rotating for-sale art collection with work from some of the country’s leading artists.

Bayside is open for lunch and dinner every day of the week except for Saturday when only dinner is served. A free-flowing champagne brunch is also available on Sundays. The restaurant also features nightly entertainment, wine tasting on Thursday evenings and full-service event planning and catering through the Dining As Art Catering Company.

Bayside is located 900 Bayside Drive in Newport Beach, California. For more information about Bayside Restaurant, please visit www.baysiderestaurant.com.
