Bayside Restaurant’s receptions attract all level of art enthusiasts, allowing them the opportunity to enjoy the restaurants large selection of food and wine while viewing the work of critically acclaimed artists such as SLAVA TCH.

Viatcheslav Tchistiline was born and raised in Russia. In 1980, he earned his Master’s degree in Commercial and Industrial Design from the prestigious Kharkiv State Institute of Arts and Industrial Design, located in Ukraine. It was at Kharkiv State Institute of Arts and Industrial Design that Viatcheslav met his wife Natalia, a Ukrainian citizen who was attending the institute in order to earn a Master’s degree in Commercial and Industrial Art-Artistic Design.

The Tchistilines immigrated to Canada where they established the business identity SLAVA TCH, which is an amalgamation of two concepts that form the basis of Viatcheslav and Natalia’s art. Slava, the Russian word for glory and TCH, an acronym for Tone, Color and Harmony. Taken as a whole, SLAVA TCH stands for the Glory of Tone, Color and Harmony.

In earlier work they painted with oil on canvas in realistic manner. These works are displayed in various collections all over Europe. After moving to Canada, their work became heavily influenced by an archaic technique called encaustic painting. Encaustic painting flourished between the second and ninth centuries A.D. and involves mixing paint pigments heated or burned in with melted beeswax. This traditional style creates a three dimensional painting with brilliant luminous colors.

After drawing on two very different artistic styles, SLAVA TCH has forged a unique blend of these two techniques, combining the traditional artistic style of encaustic media, with a more modern expressionistic art style.

The exhibit will be curated by Studio Gallery in Irvine. More information is available at www.studiogallery.net.
