ARTIST JANET BOTHNE TO EXHIBIT HER WORK AT BAYSIDE RESTAURANT IN NEWPORT BEACH

NEWPORT BEACH, Calif., March 25, 2010–Contemporary artist Janet Bothne, whose paintings were made famous by their vibrant use of color, will be exhibiting her artwork at Bayside Restaurant in Newport Beach, Calif., from April 17th, 2010 to July 2010.

To celebrate Bothne’s artwork coming to Bayside Restaurant, a special reception will be held on Saturday, April 17th, from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. This reception will provide Orange County art enthusiasts with the opportunity to not only view Bothne’s paintings, but also to meet the artist and discuss the magnificent art with her. Complementary wine and hors d’oeuvres will also be provided to guests during the art reception.

Born in Dedham, Massachusetts and now residing in Santa Monica, California, Bothne’s obsession with “The Power of Color” is what drives her artistic and creative passion. She sees her work as visual music and utilizes the human emotions evoked by color to capture her unique contemporary pieces. She has received awards at multiple Southern California juried shows and collectors of her work can be found throughout the U.S. and abroad.

After studying fine art at various universities including the University of Massachusetts, at Amherst and the University of California, Los Angeles, Bothne relocated permanently to Los Angeles in 1996. After working as a graphic artist for a number of years Bothne decided to focus solely on her art in 2001, becoming a full-time painter. Since then Bothne has exhibited her paintings in numerous shows in the Los Angeles area and is currently represented by galleries in Santa Monica, Santa Barbara and Orange, California along with galleries in Houston, Texas and Denver, Colorado.

Since it opened in 1999, Bayside Restaurant has provided the latest innovation in contemporary American cuisine. Along with changing its menu to reflect the season, the restaurant also features a rotating for-sale art collection with work from some of the country’s leading artists.

Bayside is open for lunch and dinner every day of the week except for Saturday when only dinner is served. A free-flowing champagne brunch is also available on Sundays. The restaurant also features nightly entertainment, wine tasting on Thursday evenings and full-service event planning and catering through the Dining As Art Catering Company.
