Festivities will Include a Gala Dinner, “Concert for Hope” and Grand Opening Celebration and Art Dedication

WHAT: Orange County Rescue Mission to celebrate the grand opening of The Village of Hope, a state of the art homeless facility, with an exciting weekend of events. Festivities will include a gala dinner and exclusive “Concert for Hope” performed at the Renée and Henry Segerstrom Concert Hall. Concert will feature a musical work commissioned by Roberta and Howard Ahmanson, in honor of The Village of Hope. Each ticket sold to the “Concert for Hope” is a 100% donation to the Village of Hope. Festivities will conclude on Sunday with an art dedication and a full day of family fun activities with food, music and art.

WHY: The gala “Concert for Hope” themed Beauty Changes Lives will be held at the Renée and Henry Segerstrom Concert Hall. Each ticket sold to the concert represents a 100% donation to the Village of Hope. The event will feature the premiere of Alva Henderson’s “From Greater Light,” commissioned by Roberta and Howard Ahmanson, to honor the opening of the Orange County Rescue Mission’s Village of Hope. The cantata, composed by Alva Henderson with lyrics by librettist Richard Freis, will be performed by the Pacific Symphony and the Pacific Chorale under the direction of conductor Carl St. Clair. The performance will be preceded by an elegant gala dinner to be held at the Performing Arts center. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Village of Hope, a state of the art center for homeless families.

Sunday marks the official grand opening ceremonies with an art dedication, lunch, music, family fun activities, facility tours and lectures in the chapel by artists Albert Paley and Peter Brandes. The Village of Hope is the most comprehensive transitional facility of its kind in the nation and provides childcare services, meals, accommodations, life skills, and job training giving homeless individuals the opportunity to establish themselves as self-sufficient members of society.
