BAYSIDE RESTAURANT IN NEWPORT BEACH EXHIBITS WORLD RENOWNED ABSTRACT EXPRESSIONIST PALO UBER

This is Palo Uber’s largest collection of work to be displayed in the U.S.A

NEWPORT BEACH, Calif., (September 25, 2008) – The work of world renowned abstract expressionist Palo Uber will be featured at Bayside Restaurant in Newport Beach, Calif. commencing October 2008 and running through January of 2009. This is the largest single collection of Uber’s work ever to be displayed in the U.S.A.

To celebrate the arrival of this new exhibit, Orange County’s art lovers are invited to view Uber’s artistry while enjoying complimentary fine wine and hors d’ oeuvres at Bayside Restaurant on Saturday, October 4th from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Bayside’s receptions attract all levels of art enthusiasts, allowing patrons to enjoy an extensive selection of exquisite wine and food while brushing shoulders with like-minded art appreciators.

Born in 1951 and the only child of an esteemed German architect father and Italian mother, Palo Uber’s destiny as an artist was preordained. He first began developing his artwork at Mark Rothko’s studio in New York and sold his first piece at age 14. Rothko’s influence can still be seen in Uber’s work evidenced by the minimalistic subject matter, which deals with controversial, social and political statements.

Today, his works can be found in the world’s leading institutions and art collections, including The Wallace Foundation, Nestle Corporation, Ferruzzo and Ferruzzo and the private collections of Paul McCartney and Mick Jagger.

Palo Uber is the only known artist who employs melted plastic with acrylic paint as a primary medium, creating the amazing translucent layers which are characteristic of his technique.

All of the pieces for the exhibit have come to Bayside Restaurant from London. The exhibit will be curated by Studio Gallery in Irvine. More information is available at www.studiogallery.net.

Since it opened in 1999, Bayside Restaurant has provided the latest innovation in contemporary American cuisine. Along with changing its menu to reflect the season, the restaurant also features a rotating for-sale art collection with work from some of the country’s leading artists.

Bayside is open for lunch and dinner every day of the week except for Saturday when only dinner is served. A free-flowing champagne brunch is also available on Sundays. The restaurant also features nightly entertainment, wine tasting on Thursday evenings and full-service event planning and catering through the Dining As Art Catering Company.
