TEMECULA, Calif., (November 19, 2007) – The Promenade in Temecula, a one-million square-foot regional shopping center, has broken ground on a new open-air expansion, which will be built between Macy’s and Edwards Cinemas. The expansion will feature 126,000 square feet of upscale retailers and restaurants in a main street setting featuring fountains, shade trees, and other pleasing amenities.
The first retailers committed to the new open-air component at The Promenade in Temecula are Chico’s, Coldwater Creek, Pottery Barn, The Walking Company, White House|Black Market, Williams-Sonoma and Yard House.
“Fantastic retailers and restaurants are coming to our open-air expansion at The Promenade in Temecula because they know that the community is more than ready for their offerings,” according to Kenneth Lee, Vice President of Development, West Coast Commercial for Forest City Enterprises. “It will provide our growing community, their friends and families, and Temecula’s large visitor population, with a compelling place to spend time together, enjoying Temecula’s excellent weather and quality of life.”
The expansion will also include the construction of two new multi-level parking structures which will serve customers visiting both the existing mall and the new lifestyle center.
The first retailers offer a variety of new apparel, dining, and home goods options.
- Chico’s focuses on providing comfort in its signature line of clothing, accessories and jewelry for the sophisticated woman. Chico’s operates 581 front-line stores in 48 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
- Coldwater Creek specializes in women’s apparel, including knits, pants, dresses, activewear, blazers, jewelry, accessories and more. Headquartered in Sandpoint, Idaho, the store began in 1984 as a retailer specializing in mail-service delivery.
- Pottery Barn offers home furnishings including furniture, bedding, rugs, pillows, lighting, tableware and bath accessories. Acquired by Williams-Sonoma in 1986, Pottery Barn now has more than 190 locations.
- The Walking Company sells comfortable, authentic footwear for men, women and children. Each piece of footwear is “rated” on a scale of comfort with 1 symbolizing fashion wear, 2 standing for everyday wear and 3 providing ultimate comfort.
- White House | Black Market features clothing and accessories, primarily in the colors of white and black. White House | Black Market began as two separate entities with one offering white and ivory apparel and the other offering black. The concepts were combined in 1997.
- Williams-Sonoma brands itself as “the place for cooks,” but this premier specialty retailer offers furnishings and items for each room in the home, including bedrooms, the kitchen, the office, the living room and closets.
- Yard House serves its casual-upscale American cuisine and offers the world’s largest selection of draft beer. Founded in 1996 in Long Beach, Calif., the restaurant now has more than 15 locations.
“These new retailers will provide shopping opportunities previously unknown to this part of the Inland Empire,” noted Lee. “The new lifestyle component will become a true community hub for the residents of the Temecula area.”
Announcements of many other retailers and restaurants joining the center will continue over the course of the construction.
The open-air portion of the center is anticipated to open Spring of 2009. The expansion is designed by F&A Architects with Whiting-Turner as the general contractor.
